Buying Guide

Selecting a Coupling

Torque, misalignment and maintenance access decide the right family.

Step 01

Size on torque with service factor

Rate the coupling on motor torque times a service factor for the driven machine, not on shaft diameter alone. Shock duty needs 2x or more.

Step 02

Be honest about misalignment

If shafts cannot be laser aligned, choose tyre or chain couplings that tolerate offset instead of forcing a rigid type to fail.

Step 03

Plan the element change

Some designs let you change the element without moving either machine. On tight installations that feature saves hours per maintenance.

Standards

Keyways

ISO Standard Keyways

Finished bores machined with ISO standard keyways and set screws.

Balance

Balanced Options

Dynamic balancing arranged for couplings running above standard speed limits.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about couplings & accessories, answered by our counter team.

How do I identify a coupling for replacement?

Measure both shaft diameters and the outside diameter of the coupling, note the element shape, and send us photos. We will identify the family and size, and can usually supply just the wearing element.

Only the rubber element is damaged, can I buy just that?

Yes. Spiders, tyres and chain sleeves are stocked separately for every coupling size we sell.

What service factor should I use?

Smooth loads like centrifugal pumps use 1.25 to 1.5. Reciprocating compressors, crushers and reversing drives need 2 to 3. Tell us the driver and driven machine and we will size it.

Can you bore and keyway couplings to my shafts?

Yes, finished bores with ISO keyways can be arranged, typically within two to three working days.

Need a coupling matched or bored?

Send shaft sizes, motor kW and rpm on WhatsApp and we will quote the right coupling with delivery time.
